Operations Committee Lead | Grand Vibe Architect
Will Janus is a cornerstone of Birmingham's vibrant electronic music scene, a creative force whose journey began as a DJ in 2014. His passion for the local community was reignited upon his return to Birmingham in 2022, inspired by the community-driven "Fat Stack Tuesday" from Samacca Sounds. Since then, Will has become a true production innovator, acquiring his own lasers and elevating the visual experience of shows across the city. As the creative mind behind the high-energy projects JAMURAI and the acclaimed FEEL TRIP series, he has consistently delivered unforgettable visual experiences, including the immersive FEEL TRIP 360 and the unique psytrance experience, SUNAJ.
Beyond the spectacle, Will is a dedicated advocate for the community. He is the founder of Modern Music Entertainment LLC, a business providing top-tier event management, production services, and visual support for promoters such as Slinger Entertainment, Nu Saga, and Wubmaster Productions. His deep involvement with the Awakenus festival includes providing lasers at the original Welcome Home stage in 2023 and helping lead B.A.S.S. Camp, a theme camp and stage from Awakenus 2025. Will also actively collaborates with the non-profit B.A.S.S. (Birmingham Alliance for Safer Spaces) to promote harm reduction, ensuring the EDM community remains a safe and welcoming environment for everyone. His passion, technical skill, and commitment to community make him an indispensable leader within Awakenus and the Birmingham music scene as a whole.

Programming Committee Lead | Community Maker
Jessica Bostany, better known as JBoss and now Butterfly Boss at Awakenus, is a Birmingham-based dancer, choreographer, fire and flow artist, instructor, event curator, and community connector. With more than 30 years of dance experience, she specializes in bellydance, hip-hop, freestyle movement, fire and LED performance, and her signature fusion style, BELLYHOP. She has been a core member of Luminarts Entertainment for seven years.
A founding Sea Star of Awakenus, Jessica managed performers and fire safety while also teaching and performing at the last festival. She has curated hundreds of top-notch events for lululemon, Team RWB, Clubhouse on Highland, and her own Awakenus fundraisers. She also leads the JBoss Bellydance Tribe and has built a large creative network across Birmingham and the Southeast.
As Programming and Fundraising Co-Lead, Butterfly Boss brings big energy, resourcefulness, and a talent for connecting the right people to create a little magic.

Patrick Kascak is the "Lord of the Sound" for the sound system collective Black Mountain Sound, based in Georgia. Black Mountain Sound is available for gigs in the Southeastern United States. They specialize in HOQS sound equipment, including custom-built kicktops and subwoofers.
Patrick also leads Heathen Life Theme camp. He's responsible for keeping the fires in check during Awakenus and ensures we comply with sound decibel level limits set by the venue.
Gem is the mother of Awakenus, a festival conceived by many others. In 2027, her contributions to Awakenus will be focused on advising the committee in making the festival more sustainable with an increased emphasis on the safety and well-being of participants.
