Hey Awakenus Fam!


Ginevra here - but I am retiring this name, so please call me Emily. I'm the one who has been masquerading as The Awakenus Org writing emails to some of you since 2023.Β 


I often refer to Awakenus as my baby, but the truth is that it was born from many amazing parents who raised it with a tremendous amount of effort and passion.Β 


Awakenus is truly US - we all make it happen.Β 


I'm so incredibly thankful to see how you as participants have perpetuated a beautiful culture of creativity, celebration, self-expression and of course...so much light and love. It's been a wonderful experience to see the festival grow and thrive, especially after The Reformation -- our first "sort of" burn complete with an effigy, theme camps and gifting (plus vending - we choose to support our art and food & beverage vendors!).Β

Awakenus: The Reformation went as smoothly as we could have hoped - great weather, great vibe, great tribe. I'm a truly proud mama.


Now that Awakenus is in a state fulfills my initial vision and is able to break even financially, I'm ready to transition the festival to a leadership team including a committee that owns responsibility for the financial, environmental, and general sustainability of the festival. While many (if not all) of our leads will stay with us, we are seeking new leaders including committee members and volunteer managers to help the festival continue and to build the Awakenus community.Β

Awakenus is a community and not-for-profit event in which everyone co-creates together. All participants must be ticketed; the organization is not providing free tickets to organizers, artists, workshop hosts, and other co-creators. Any funds that do not go towards event costs will be allocated towards a Conscious Creativity Fund to support artists and theme camps and a relief fund to help a nearby retreat (Parksland Retreat) that refunded guests who were disturbed by the noise caused by our festival.Β
